KAN-therm Push saddle take-off

KAN-therm Push saddle fitting

A KAN-therm Push saddle fitting is used where a branch to PE-Xc or PE-RT pipe has to leave a polypropylene main without cutting the riser. The saddle is polyfusion-welded to the outside of the PP-R pipe, and the outlet is formed for a Push sliding sleeve. This branch is used in internal cold and hot water, heating circuits and collector connections. A wrong saddle diameter or weld cycle leaks at the joint, so the size is taken from the installed pipe, not estimated.

Main types of saddle outlets

The core item in this group is the PP/Push saddle connector. The body is welded to the PP pipe, and the stub is made for a sliding ring: the expanded pipe end is pushed onto the profiled nozzle and locked by the sleeve. There is no O-ring in the Push joint — the seal is the pipe wall against the nozzle. Common mains sizes are PP outside diameters 63, 75, 90 and 110 mm, with an 18×2.0 outlet. That outlet matches Push pipe 18×2 and suits a branch to a fixture, manifold or short underfloor loop. Female-thread saddles also exist in the PP range; they are a different joint and should not be ordered as a Push outlet.

Materials and construction

The saddle body is random-copolymer polypropylene, PP-R. It welds to pipe of the same material, does not corrode in drinking water and gives a homogeneous joint without a metal insert at the tap. The Push outlet works with PE-Xc and PE-RT pipe; the sliding sleeve is CW617N brass or PVDF, while standard Push fittings in the same system are PPSU or brass. For the saddle itself PP-R is the critical material: a different polymer will not weld reliably. Exact temperature and pressure limits depend on the PP pipe application class and must be checked on the data sheet of the specific item. Internal PP-R systems are typically selected for cold water, hot water and heating, with a maximum temperature around 90 °C.

Where the saddle branch is used

The tap is placed on PP risers and horizontal mains when a branch is needed without opening the run. Typical jobs are a sanitary fixture connection, a branch to an underfloor manifold, and a tap into an existing water line during a flat, commercial or small-building refit. Designers use it where a tee cannot be inserted without cutting the pipe inside a shaft or a closed void.

How to select a KAN-therm Push saddle fitting

Start with the outside diameter of the PP pipe: the saddle welds to that diameter, not to a nominal bore. Then check the outlet — in this series it is made for 18×2.0 pipe, and the sliding ring must match that size. The main material, the polyfusion nozzle and the Push expander all have to agree. Before ordering, confirm there is room for the welding head and the press: the saddle should not sit against a socket or a bend, and the hole in the pipe is drilled to the size specified for the fitting. Price follows the main diameter and the order quantity.

Why order from Piping Systems of Ukraine

It is easier to select the KAN-therm Push saddle fitting together with the PP pipe, sliding rings and Push fittings, so the joint matches on the first attempt. The shop team can check the size, build a set for the site and prepare documents for a contractor or a company order. Wholesale and retail are both accepted, with delivery across Ukraine; availability and price of a given size are confirmed before dispatch.

Popular sizes

Manufacturer catalogues commonly list these PP/Push saddle pairs, “PP pipe / Push outlet”:

  • 63 / 18×2.0
  • 75 / 18×2.0
  • 90 / 18×2.0
  • 110 / 18×2.0

The first figure is the outside diameter of the PP pipe the saddle is welded to; the second is the pipe joined by the sliding sleeve. Confirm the exact size before ordering.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the KAN-therm Push saddle fitting

How is a saddle tap different from a Push tee?
A Push tee sits in a cut PE-Xc or PE-RT pipe and joins three ends of the same system. The saddle does not cut the main: it is polyfusion-welded to PP-R pipe, and the branch leaves on a Push stub. The two joints are not interchangeable.

Which pipe is the saddle welded to?
The body is made for PP-R pipe of the matching outside diameter — typically 63, 75, 90 or 110 mm. Welding is polyfusion, the same method as other fittings in the PP system. It is not fitted to PE-Xc pipe.

Does the Push outlet need O-rings?
No. The nozzle is profiled so the expanded pipe wall seals once the sleeve is slid on. The ring is sized for 18×2.0: a brass ring goes on with the internal chamfer toward the fitting; a polymer ring is symmetrical and needs no orientation.

Can the saddle feed a 25 mm pipe?
In the PP/Push series the outlet is 18×2.0. If a larger diameter is needed downstream, the change is made with a Push fitting after the branch, not by treating the saddle as universal. A 25 mm mark on a related item is a different joint and should be checked by article number.

What should be checked before installation?
Match the PP outside diameter to the saddle seat, keep the weld zone clean and dry, and leave room for the nozzle and the press. Drill the pipe hole to the size specified for the fitting, and do not move the saddle once fusion has started. After assembly, include the joint in the section pressure test.
