A water meter measures the volume of cold or hot water flowing through a closed pipeline. It is used for billing and internal metering in apartments, private houses, building inlets and industrial water-supply networks. A correctly selected meter records actual consumption, simplifies settlement with the user and helps detect losses in the system.
This product group commonly includes single-jet and multi-jet impeller meters, Woltman turbine meters for larger diameters, and ultrasonic or electromagnetic designs. Impeller meters with threaded connections are typically used in apartments and other low-flow points. Turbine or non-mechanical meters with flanged connections are more common on building inlets and process lines. Separate versions exist for cold and hot water, with dry-dial or wet-dial registers, horizontal or vertical installation, and optional pulse output for remote reading.
Selection is based on nominal diameter DN, temperature class, working pressure, measuring range (R = Q3/Q1), face-to-face length, mounting orientation and water quality. For commercial metering in Ukraine the instrument must comply with the technical regulation on measuring instruments; the verification interval for water meters is 4 years. A strainer should be installed upstream of the meter, straight pipe runs should be observed, and flow must follow the arrow on the body. Exact ratings depend on the manufacturer, size and design and must be checked against the datasheet of the specific unit.
At the Piping Systems of Ukraine online store you can buy or order a water meter after the system parameters are confirmed. An engineer will match DN, medium temperature and measuring class to the project and quote the price and the cost of the metering assembly. Delivery is available across Ukraine.
