KAN-therm Push Elbow

KAN-therm Push elbows

A KAN-therm Push elbow is a fitting in the KAN-therm Push system that changes the direction of a PE-Xc or PE-RT pipe and turns the run toward a radiator, mixer or draw-off point. The joint is made with a sliding sleeve: the expanded pipe end is pushed onto the fitting, then the sleeve is slid over the connection. Sealing comes from the pipe grip on the fitting profile, with no O-ring, so the joint can be covered by screed or plaster where the design allows. A wrong diameter, body material or tail length makes the radiator outlet hard to set and adds extra joints in the chase.

Main types of KAN-therm Push elbows

Three constructions are common in this group.

An equal elbow joins two pipes of the same diameter at a right angle. The body is PPSU or brass, and both ends take a sliding sleeve. It is used for a turn in the floor, a manifold niche or a riser when bending the pipe to the allowed radius is impractical.

An elbow with a nickel-plated Cu15 copper tail and a bracket is used for a wall outlet to a radiator. The 14×2 or 18×2.5 pipe enters the fitting in the chase, and the nickel-plated tail comes out on the radiator axis. A common installed length is 300 mm; longer tails are used when the radiator sits further from the finished face. The bracket holds the assembly until finishing is complete.

A fixed PPSU KAN-therm Push elbow is a tap socket with a G1/2 female thread. A short polymer plug protects the thread until the mixer is fitted, and the fixing holds the axis on a mounting plate. It is chosen where the wall must present a threaded point, not a copper tail.

Materials and construction

Bodies are moulded in polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) or machined in brass. PPSU does not corrode in contact with drinking water and suits a concealed wallplate. Brass is used where stiffness matters, above all on a radiator elbow with a nickel-plated tail. Nickel on the Cu15 tube limits visible oxidation on the section that enters the room.

Sliding sleeves are brass or PVDF. The sleeve is not a gasket: tightness comes from the pipe tension on the fitting profile. For PPSU fittings in 12, 14, 18 and 25 mm the manufacturer specifies separate tool inserts on the fitting side, so sleeve, pipe and elbow must belong to the same system.

Where they are used

These elbows are used in internal heating and potable water systems in residential and public buildings. The Cu15 tail version feeds a radiator when the supply runs in polymer pipe inside a chase. The G1/2 socket is set under plaster for a mixer, a bidet spray or a tap serving an appliance. An equal elbow is used in manifold distribution and on circuit turns.

How to choose

Match the pipe outside diameter and wall thickness first. Common Push pairs are 14×2 and 18×2.5, with 12×2, 25×3.5 and 32×4.4 less frequent. The sleeve, expander head and tool inserts must match that pair. For a radiator, check the nickel-plated tail length and whether a bracket is included. For a wallplate, check the G1/2 thread, body material and how it fixes to the plate.

Temperature and pressure depend on the pipe class and the system duty. The manufacturer states an operating temperature of about 80 °C for Push fittings, with a short-term maximum of about 90 °C if the heat source is protected against overrun. Selection by PN, as for flanged industrial valves, does not apply here. Exact limits come from the product data sheet. Price follows body material, diameter, tail length and whether a bracket is included.

Why order from Pipeline Systems Ukraine

Pipeline Systems Ukraine can match a KAN-therm Push elbow to the pipe, sleeve and fixing already on site, without mixing parts from different systems. Specialists check diameter, thread and tail length before the order is placed. We supply installation companies and private buyers, wholesale and retail. Delivery covers Ukraine; availability and price are confirmed by article, and documents can be issued for the specific item.

Popular sizes

FAQ

How does a Cu15 tail elbow differ from an equal elbow? An equal elbow joins two polymer pipes of the same diameter and stays in the circuit. A bracket elbow has a nickel-plated Cu15 copper tail: it brings the radiator connection out of the wall, while the chase side remains a socket for the sliding sleeve. Tail length is set by the distance from the finished face to the radiator axis.

Can a sliding-sleeve joint be buried in screed? A Push joint seals by pipe tension on the fitting, with no O-ring, so the manufacturer allows concealed installation when the joint is made with the specified sleeve and tool. The joint should be pressure-tested before it is covered. Sleeve, pipe and body must be from the same system: a foreign sleeve does not give the same grip.

Should a radiator outlet be 14×2 or 18×2.5? Take the size from the design and from the pipe already purchased, not as a spare size. 14×2 is often used on a short appliance connection, 18×2.5 on runs with a higher flow. The sleeve and tool inserts must match the diameter and wall pair, or the sleeve will not seat on the fitting.

What is a fixed PPSU G1/2 elbow for? It is a wallplate: the wall presents a female thread for a mixer or tap, not a copper tail. A short plug covers the thread during plastering, and the fixing holds the axis on a mounting plate. PPSU fits this duty because of drinking-water contact and concealed installation.

Will a brass elbow work with PE-RT and PE-Xc pipe? Yes, if the pipe belongs to the Push system, has an EVOH oxygen barrier and matches the fitting diameter. Brass or PPSU does not replace that size check. Some PPSU diameters need their own tool inserts on the fitting side.
